When Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz wrapped up a week-long domestic tour of the northern Al Jouf province last week, a young resident of Al Quryyat city was left disheartened because the ruler had skipped her city.
“The king visited Arar, and he visited Sakakah, but he didn’t visit us,” she said crying, in a video that went viral on social media networks in Saudi Arabia this week.
The video caught the attention of King Salman, who then invited the young girl and her father for a private visit.
In a video posted on Twitter by Bader Alasker, head of the private office of the Saudi Crown Prince, the young girl is shown running towards the king, who then lifts her and takes her in his arms.
The king visited the northern provinces of Saudi Arabia earlier this month as part of domestic tour- his first since ascending to the throne in 2015.
He announced a number of development projects that aim to improve health, education and infrastructure in Al Jouf and other parts of the kingdom.
