The solution to the Qatar crisis is in Doha's hands and not a matter for the United Nations, Saudi Arabia's foreign minister said yesterday.
Adel Al Jubeir's comments came after he met with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres as UN General Assembly-related meetings kicked off in New York.
Mr Al Jubeir is also the leader of his country’s delegation at the 72nd session of the General Assembly.
Speaking at the media stakeout afterwards, Mr Al Jubeir said that the UN did not have a role in resolving the regional crisis over Qatar’s support for extremist and terror groups.

He added the solution to the dispute with Qatar is in Doha’s hands.
In June, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt severed diplomatic ties and air, road and sea transport links with Qatar. The crisis has now passed the 100 day mark.
Mr Al Jubeir met Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in Washington shortly before travelling to New York where he and Mr Guterres also discussed Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Myanmar. Prince Khalid bin Salman, the Saudi ambassador in Washington also took part in the meeting with the UN Secretary-General.
