The search is on for a Saudi man who has gone missing in Uganda. He was last seen on the Nile River in the country.

Mothker Al Subaie had posted on the photo-sharing app Snapchat a video of the Nile, known as the White Nile in Uganda, on what seems like a tourist visit.

“This is the real base of the Nile, Bless God, if you threw a glass here, you’ll find it in Cairo in two months,” he said in a 16-second clip.

The Saudi Embassy in Uganda is working with local authorities on a search and rescue mission after the Saudi national went missing over the weekend.

“Communication with Ugandan authorities is ongoing and the search continues to find Mothker Al Subaie. We are in contact with his relatives, doing all that we have to return him safely to the homeland,” the embassy said.

Other social media posts by Mr Al Subaie show he had started his trip in Kampala, Uganda’s capital, on a trip accompanied by at least one other Saudi who had been studying and living in the country.

Others on social media said that Mr Al Subaie was also on a business trip while in Uganda.

Posts from his Snapchat have drawn public intrigue in the search and rescue mission. It is unclear whether authorities are using the app to inform the operation but the last 24 hours of Mr Al Subaie were heavily documented through stories on Snapchat.
