WATCH: Turkey MP shaves off protest beard to mark end of state of emergency

A Turkish politician who refused to shave his beard for two years in protest at the state of emergency came clean on Thursday after the emergency rule expired.

Aytug Atici had his beard shaven at parliament's barbershop to celebrate the end of emergency rule.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan imposed the measure after a failed coup in 2016.

It came to an end on Thursday, Erdogan's opponents say his new executive presidency and a draft anti-terrorism law leave him with sweeping powers to stifle dissent.
