LONDON // Most newlyweds have to make do with photos to immortalise the moment they say "I do". But Prince William and his wife Catherine will have their special day captured forever — in Barbie doll form.
"Available in April timed to their one year wedding anniversary, the gift set features the two wearing outfits inspired by their regal wedding day attire," said a spokesman for Mattel.
The Catherine doll wears a miniature version of her Alexander McQueen-designed wedding gown and a radiant plastic smile.
William's doll features his red military jacket and, rather generously, a full head of hair.
The second-in-line to the throne and his bride Kate Middleton married in a glittering London ceremony on April 29 last year, which was broadcast around the world.
Aimed at adult collectors, the Will and Kate dolls can be pre-ordered for £99.99 (Dh576) for the pair.
The prince, 29, is currently on a deployment in the Falkland Islands as part of his role as a Royal Air Force search and rescue pilot, but still found time to send his 30-year-old wife a Valentine's card and flowers.
The Duchess of Cambridge is stepping up her royal duties as part of Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
