ABU DHABI // A documentary capturing the educational journey to Germany of 60 young Emiratis will have its first showing tonight at the Yas Hotel and on Abu Dhabi TV.

The 30 men and 30 women travelled to Dresden for seven weeks this summer as part of Al Nokhba, an internship programme.

The Emiratis and their families will meet Ibrahim Ajami, the chief executive of Advanced Technology and Investment Company, one of the sponsors of the film, at tonight's premiere.

The 40-minute movie, Etching a Brighter Path, which was directed by Bushra al Sharifi, an Emirati, follows the young men and women as they visit ATIC's semiconductor plant in the former East German city. It is intended to illustrate the importance of the technology sector to the UAE's future.

"The film highlights the overwhelmingly positive experience the students had in Dresden and the opportunities that are available for those interested in the field," said Mr Ajami.

The documentary airs on the National Geographic channel tonight, on Al Emarat tomorrow and on Al Oula on Tuesday.
