Somali pirates seize Thai ships with 77 crew

Pirates hijacked three Thai fishing vessels more than 1,930 kilometres from the Somali coast - the furthest out attack to date.

NAIROBI, KENYA // The European Union Naval Force says that pirates have hijacked three Thai fishing vessels more than 1,930 kilometres from the Somali coast - the furthest out attack to date. Cmdr John Harbour says the three vessels and their crew were heading toward the Somali coast today. It was not immediately clear when they were taken. The MV Prantalay 11, 12, and 14 have 77 crew on-board in total. All the crew are Thai. The owner of the vessels is PT Interfishery Ltd. * AP
