Yas Island fire 'quickly extinguished' 

A spokesperson for the Yas Viceroy Hotel said a small fire broke out on the top roof at 12.30pm.

A fire broke out on Yas Island on Monday.

Residents said they saw large plumes of smoke coming from the Yas Viceroy hotel.

A spokesperson for the Yas Viceroy Hotel said a small fire broke out on the top roof at 12.30pm.

"Civil Defence were immediately called and the fire was quickly extinguished," she said.

"There were no injuries, damage was minimal and everything is now back to normal."

Kasper Wigen, director of marketing, said the hotel was immediately evacuated of all guests and the incident was resolved within 15 minutes.

"I can't say why the fire broke out, authorities are working on this issue as we speak," he said.
