Worshippers perform Tahajjud prayers at Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
Around 52,000 worshippers performed Tahajjud prayers on the night of 27 of Ramadan at Sheikh Zayed Mosque.
Thousands of people have been gathering at the mosque daily during the holy month when temperatures have been close to their annual peak this year. Keeping this in mind, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre has installed 180 portable cooling devices that will keep the Abu Dhabi's mosque's outer areas cool until the end of Ramadan.
Tomorrow, the UAE government's moon-sighting committee will meet to determine whether Ramadan has ended. The committee will meet after Maghreb prayer tomorrow - Ramadan 29.
Sharia courts across the country have been called to look out for the crescent moon and inform the committee.
If the new moon is spotted, this will indicate that the month of Ramadan has ended and Shawwal has begun. Eid celebrations will then take place.
