A construction worker died after a mound of sand collapsed on him at a building site in Ras Al Khaimah on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old man, of Asian origin, was working on a building with two colleagues, aged 25 and 30, when the mound collapsed.

Police were called at 10.35am to rescue the workers.

Brig Mohammed Al Zaabi, Director of the Department of Civil Defence at Ras Al Khaimah, said two workers sustained minor injuries and the other was found dead.

“The rescue team managed to rescue two workers and discovered later that there was a third worker under the rubble and he was found dead,” said Brig Al Zaabi.

The case was transferred to specialised authorities for investigation into the cause and legal action.
