Worker dies after being buried in sand in Ras Al Khaimah
Man killed while carrying out excavation work
A man died after being buried under a mound of sand while carrying out excavation work in Ras Al Khaimah on Sunday.
A rescue operation was launched by RAK Civil Defence but the worker, an Asian man in his 30s, could not be saved.
The tragedy took place in the Al Dahan district of the emirate.
Brigadier Mohammed Al Zaabi, director of RAK Civil Defence, said that the sandy area the man was standing on collapsed, leaving him trapped in a hole which quickly flooded with sand.
“The hole was partly flooded with sand and he was trapped in it,” said Brigadier Al Zaabi.
