More than 3,000 Emiratis have registered as unemployed in the Northern Emirates, according to the National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority (Tanmia).
Visiting members of the Federal National Council's health, labour and social affairs committee were told by Tanmia officials that 3,317 Emiratis - four-fifths of whom were women - were registered with the agency in Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Sharjah.
The officials said their biggest problem was the limited number of jobs in these areas, as well as a lack of job-specific skills.
