A woman, whose accomplice fell to her death from an 11th-floor balcony while trying to flee the scene of an attempted robbery, will spend two years in prison.
The Nigerian woman, 34, was convicted of theft, confinement, issuing threats and "breaching a man’s privacy" by Dubai Criminal Court.
The court heard that the accused and her dead accomplice – whose age was not disclosed – lured a Saudi Arabian man to their flat to rob him.
The man, 38, had contacted the women on WhatsApp and agreed to meet them at their flat for a massage session.
When he entered the flat in Al Barsha, on October 3 last year, he was attacked, restrained and stripped naked by the women.
One woman took pictures of him with her accomplice, showing them in inappropriate positions, before the pair threatened to torture him and post the pictures online if he did not give them money. He paid them Dh1,500.
"I tried to escape but one of them blocked the way to the door so I pushed her out, locked the door and took the key," said the man.
The woman, who was locked inside the flat ran out on to the balcony in an attempt to escape after the man threatened to call police, but she fell to her death.
A tenant, who woke up to the sound of the body hitting the ground, called a security guard.
"I woke up at around 3am, looked out of my balcony and saw a woman's body then informed the security guard who called police," said the tenant.
The woman who survived was arrested while trying to escape.
"She was walking away from the building quietly to escape, but the Saudi man identified her and we took her into custody," a police officer said.
She was sentenced to two years in prison and will be deported upon completing her jail term.
