A woman who hit her flatmate and damaged her sight in a fight over keeping their flat tidy will see out her jail sentence.
The Tunisian woman, 34, assaulted her Moroccan flatmate, 36, on September 15, 2017, she was asked not to leave things lying around their Al Muraqqabat apartment.
"She wouldn’t tidy and told me that she can keep her stuff wherever she wanted," said the victim.
The two argued and then the Tunisian woman beat her up, hitting her on the head.
The third flatmate woke up to the sound of them screaming.
"I found them beating each other up, punching and pulling each other's hair. I managed to break up the fight and went back to sleep," said the woman, 34, also Tunisian.
Five minutes later she heard screams again and found the victim bleeding from her right eye.
Police and an ambulance were called and the injured woman was taken to hospital. Doctors treated her eye but said she would not completely recover her sight.
Dubai Criminal Court convicted the defendant of physical assault and causing a permanent disability and sentenced her to six months to be followed by deportation.
The woman appealed, seeking an acquittal, but her application was rejected and her sentence upheld.
