DUBAI// A woman jumped to her death from an apartment building in a desperate bid to escape a gang of kidnappers who forced her to work as a prostitute.
The Indonesian was encouraged to abscond from her job as a maid along with a compatriot by two men who then sold the women to four Bangladeshis who ran a brothel from a flat in International City.
The woman died on November 14. Police responding to a report of a dead body were able to rescue the second victim and arrest the six defendants.
The men, aged between 25 and 44, appeared before the Dubai Criminal Court charged with human trafficking, which they all denied. Two of the six were additionally charged with kidnapping the women and locking them up.
The next hearing will be on September 7.
