Woman cleared of threatening to fire a Dubai policeman
The woman denied the charge in Dubai Criminal Court last March
A businesswoman was cleared of insulting a policeman and threatening to have him fired.
Prosecutors said that on July 14, the Yemeni policeman was responding to a fight reported at a café in Naif when the Ethiopian woman, 36, threatened him.
“I went to the cafe at nearly 8.30pm and met with the man who filed the report. He told me a different woman stole his wallet and mobile phone,” said the officer.
“When I asked her for ID, the defendant walked in and interrupted us. When I told her that this was a police work, she threatened to have me fired and deported,” he said.
The officer said the accused spoke to him in clear Arabic and when he returned to his patrol car, threw a mobile phone at him.
In court in March last year, the woman denied all charges. Dubai Criminal Court cleared her of the charge – a decision that was upheld by Dubai Court of Appeals on Tuesday.
