Winter has well and truly arrived in the UAE - with heavy rainfall leading to flooding in parts of the country.

The deluge of rainfall caused flooding in Wadi Al Helo and Al Madam in Sharjah on Tuesday, while light to moderate rain has also been reported over Khor Fakkan in the emirate and in Al Hayl, Al Howailat and Merbeh in Fujairah.

The National Centre of Meteorology has said the rainfall could continue until Thursday.

Videos of flooding roads in Wadi Al Helo and Al Madam in Sharjah were tweeted by the National Centre of Meteorology along with warnings of poor visibility in some areas.

Forecasters said residents could expect heavy rain until 9pm on Tuesday, with strong winds of up to 40kph also expected.
