RAS AL KHAIMAH // A wedding guest has died after being hit by celebratory gunfire in the emirate.

The 37-year-old man was taken to a nearby hospital but died of his injuries there.

Brigadier Mohammad Nubian Mohammed, deputy commander of RAK Police, sent his condolences to the bereaved’s family but said directives had already been issued to prevent the use of live ammunition at events including weddings.

He said: “Unfortunately, there are some people who do not comply with the directives and instructions and insist on the continued use of bullets at weddings.”

The deputy chief reiterated RAK Police’s commitment to the safety of all who live in the emirate and said they will not hesitate to take action to prevent such incidents in the future.

He also urged residents to replace gunfire with safer ways of celebrating happy occasions.
