DUBAI // The official Apple retailer iStyle has announced that the iPad mini will be launched at its stores across the UAE at 7pm on Thursday.

Virgin said the scaled-down tablet computer would also be on sale at its megastores at the same time.

iStyle made the announcement on its website and sent SMS messages about the move to customers. The latest full-size iPad will be sold as well.

The 16GB mini with Wi-Fi will cost Dh1,299 at iStyle, while the 32GB model with Wi-Fi and cellular connection is priced at Dh2,199.

The smaller version of the iPad has a 7.9-inch screen and is thinner and much lighter than the full-size model.

Apple's iPhone 5 is due to go on sale in the UAE on Friday.

iStyle has stores at Abu Dhabi Mall and Marina Mall in the capital, and at Dubai Mall, Ibn Battuta Mall, Festival City, Mirdif City Centre and Mercato in Dubai.
