Foreign policy scholar Vali Nasr will join UAE diplomat Omar Ghobash in discussion on Monday night for the second talk in the The Future of Diplomacy series by the Office of Public and Cultural Diplomacy.

Mr Nasr is an Iranian-American scholar who is a leading authority on Shia Islam, Iran and US foreign policy. He served as dean at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies between 2012 to 2019.

Mr Nasr has written numerous books and articles on US Foreign policy and Iran, including The Dispensable Nation on the Obama administration's missed chance to improve US relations in the Middle East and Forces of Fortune on the rising middle class in the Middle East.

The weekly web series explores diplomacy and foreign policy in a world transformed by the coronavirus.

Viewers can submit questions through the talk, which will be moderated by Mr Ghobash, Assistant Minister of Public and Cultural Diplomacy, and author of Letters to a Young Muslim.

The series will feature leading figures in science, technology, governance, cultural theory, history, religious studies, computer security, philosophy and mental health.
