UK drivers shun repairs

LONDON // Two British surveys, commissioned by Green Flag Breakdown and the RAC, have both found that UK car owners have become complacent about car repairs. The Green Flag survey found that 43 per cent of motorists drive cars knowing that at least one item necessary for proper running is in poor condition or approaching failure and 73 per cent of drivers only check essential functions, such as brakes and transmission, during the annual inspection for registration. The low cost of breakdown insurance has been cited as a major factor in British motorists becoming more casual in maintaining their cars.
