ABU DHABI // Unstable conditions are set to continue today with towering clouds leading to thunderstorms, particularly in the western and northern areas of the UAE.

Residents across the emirates woke up to rain with scattered showers likely to continue throughout the day.

Forecasters expect temperatures to decrease gradually with highs of 29°C and lows of 12°C inland and a range of 15°C to 26°C along the coast.

Seas will be rough in the Arabian Gulf and Sea of Oman with humidity set to increase overnight.

Ras Al Khaimah Police have increased patrols today to aid residents in areas prone to flash flooding and to deal with any weather-related accidents.

50 patrols will be distributed throughout the emirate, particularly near valleys along with rescue teams and ambulances.

Fujairah Police also increased the number of patrols in Merbeh, Qidfa, Al Qurayyah and Sakamkam.

Police urged residents to stay away from valleys during such weather and reminded motorists to keep a safe distance from the car ahead, slow down while driving on wet roads and to always check the weather forecast before starting their journey.
