UAE weather: Rare rainfall in Abu Dhabi
Residents in parts of the capital arose to cloudy skies and wet roads
There was a surprise for Abu Dhabi residents this morning with rare summer rain falling in parts of the capital.
The National Centre for Meteorology showed videos of drivers negotiating wet roads in areas such as Mussaffah, and it confirmed rain had fallen on Yas Island, over Abu Dhabi International Airport, Al Falah, Mohammed bin Zayed City and Al Shamkha.
Coastal areas also may receive some rain this morning amid light winds and sandy conditions.
Highs of 35°C to 38°C are expected along the coast, while internal parts will see temperatures reach 41°C. Mountainous areas will remain cool and touch a maximum of 34°C and a minimum of 19°C. Those heading out to sea, should expect rough conditions today.
Over the weekend, people can hope to enjoy better weather, though there might be dusty or sandy conditions in open areas, possibly affecting visibility on the roads for drivers.
