Hotter days await for the Eid Al Fitr holiday this week, with temperatures expected to hit highs of up to 44°C, and relative humidity of up to 90 per cent.

Temperatures in Abu Dhabi and Dubai are expected to range between 31°C and 43°C this week, the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology says.

Forecasters say there will be slight winds that may kick up dust in open areas and make waters slightly rough in the Arabian Gulf.

Temperatures will range between 29°C to 43°C along the coast and from 29°C to 44°C inland.

People in the Northern Emirates or in mountainous areas can expect temperatures of 29°C to 44°C. Relative humidity will be high in the evenings and early morning, peaking at 90 per cent along the coast.

Forecasters said the lowest temperature recorded across the country on Sunday was 24.3°C at 5.30am in Al Ruwais, about 250 kilometres west of Abu Dhabi along the coast.

Motorists were warned to drive carefully because of fresh winds blowing dust, which could reduce horizontal visibility to a distance of less than 2 kilometres.

Relative humidity will rise late at night and in the early morning, especially over the northern parts of the country.

Seas were rough on Sunday in the Arabian Gulf but will become moderate to slight during the rest of the week, and there will be moderate conditions in the Sea of Oman.
