Dust clouds persist across the country with forecasters warning of low visibility.

Temperatures are set to hit highs of 47°C in internal areas on Thursday, with dust clouds expected across the country.

Light to moderate winds in general may cause blowing dust over exposed areas, with speeds as high as 40kph in the centre of the country.

The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology has urged motorists to drive carefully due decreased visibility as a result of dusty weather and early morning fog. Heavy fog continued to cover interior and coastal areas until 8am with visibility reduced to less than 1km.

The high levels of humidity along the coast and interior areas would cause fog to form, during early morning hours, according to the centre.

Humidity is expected to reach 95 per cent across coastal and interior regions. It has reached 100 per cent in some areas in the past few days.

The centre said seas in the Arabian Gulf and Sea of Oman would be slight to moderate.

Temperatures will range from 29°C to 41°C along the coast and 28°C to 47°C in the centre of the country.
