UAE weather: Fresh winds to bring cold snap
Fog and mist could pose probems for motorists
A significant drop in temperatures is expected across the country on Thursday and into the weekend as fresh winds bring a cooler spell of weather for much of the UAE.
Recent highs of 30C are set to be replaced by an average daytime temperature of just 20C in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
It will be even cooler in the north, where it could drop as low as 12C in the mountains of Ras Al Khaimah.
Windspeeds reaching 55kph are likely to cause visibility problems, particularly in open areas as sand and dust is whipped into the atmosphere, so drivers should take extra care during busy times.
Those winds will also cause difficult conditions at sea, and weekend temperatures will peak at about 24C for coastal areas, and slightly cooler inland.
A similar weather pattern is forecast into the weekend, although it will be slightly warmer and more humid in the early morning and evening.
That humidity could bring its own challenges, as heavy fog is likely to develop along coastal areas also reducing air quality and line of sight for motorists.
Sunday is also expected to be sunny, but partly cloudy at times, with temperatures likely to peak at about 25C for most areas.
