UAE travellers to get Asian Cup stamp in passports
Stamp will be issued to everyone passing through UAE airports during the tournament.
Travellers arriving in the UAE are receiving a special passport stamp to commemorate the Asia Cup.
The image includes the tournament logo and has been arranged in a joint initiative between tournament organisers and the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship.
Thousands of fans are set to arrive in the UAE for the tournament which begins on Saturday. A total of 24 nations are competing in 51 matches which will take place in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai and Sharjah.
The stamp will be issued to everyone passing through immigration at UAE airports throughout the tournament. They were introduced on December 30 and will be in use until February 1, the day of the final.
“Offering a special memento in the form of a passport stamp to fans from around the world is yet another step in our plan that shows how proud we are to host the AFC Asian Cup," said Aref Hamad Al Awani, Tournament Director for the Local Organising Committee.
"It reaffirms our commitment to achieve the tournament’s mission of bringing Asia together. Through this initiative, we will expand the reach of the tournament and take it to all peoples of Asia.”
