UAE traffic: Sheikh Zayed Road at a standstill after accidents while Sharjah gridlocked

Traffic was at a standstill this morning on Sheikh Zayed Road as a series of accidents slowed the morning commute.

Drivers reported delays of up to 30 minutes as a result of the accidents near Jebel Ali.

According to the traffic app Waze, traffic was crawling on Sheikh Zayed Road, starting from near the Emarat petrol station up to Mercedes Benz Middle East in the direction of Abu Dhabi. Dubai Police warned drivers to be cautious.

Traffic was also particularly bad in Sharjah, where there were tailbacks on Al Itihad Street, starting from Sharjah Industrial Area 7 and up to where it crosses Al Tawun Street, and again at Al Nahda 1 up to Dubai International Airport. The roads around the Expo Centre Sharjah and the nearby Victoria International School Sharjah were also slow, as was a section of Al Nahda Street running past the Sharjah Centre.

There were tailbacks on a section of Amman Street, starting from the lights at 14th Street and Doha Road, up to the Enoc petrol pump.

A section of Al Khan Street was gridlocked, from Babel Tower to Al Wahda Street. There were also problems on the Sharjah Ring Road, starting at Al Itihad Street and running down to where it joins Damascus Street, which was also slower up to the traffic lights.

A section of Al Dhaid Street was slow, starting near Al Ghubeiba and running down past Saif Free Zone. And there were tailbacks on the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, all the way from Al Zahra Street down to Sharjah Industrial Area 5.

Beirut Street was moving slowly too, starting at Al Qusais Industrial 4 and running almost up to Al Qusais 2.

There were also the usual issues on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, starting near the Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club and running past Dubai International Airport all the way to Mirdif City Centre.

In Dubai, roads were slow around the airport, including Al Khawaneej Road near Etihad Mall and running up to where it becomes Airport Road and near the airport tunnel.

Traffic was also moving slowly on Al Manama Street in International City.

There were tailbacks on the Al Khail Road, starting at the Latifa bint Hamdan Street and going as far as Mohammed bin Rashid City.

Sections of Hessa Street were slow, starting in JVC District 11 and running up to the Saudi German Hospital, and traffic was also creeping around the Expo 2020 site.

It was slow moving on Sheikh Zayed Road, from Danube Metro Station to Mercedes Benz in Jebel Ali after an accident. Police warned drivers to be cautious in the area.

In Abu Dhabi, traffic was moving slowly on Abu Dhabi – Sweihan – Al Hiyar Road past Al Ghazal Golf Club, again near Abu Dhabi Airport and then Khalifa City A.

There were also tailbacks on the E11 Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Road near Shakhbout City up to Fatima College of Health Science in Al Mafraq.

Traffic was moving more slowly on the Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Road, from Mohammed bin Zayed City to Al Maqtaa Bridge.

There were tailbacks on Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Street from Khalifa Park to the Mangrove National Park and again in the other direction, from near the intersection with Hazza bin Zayed Street to Mangrove National Park.
