Mayhem ensued across the emirates this morning after crashes plagued the morning commute and school run.

In Dubai, several accidents on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, opposite IMG Worlds of Adventure, has caused tailbacks until past Dubai - Al Ain Road. One social media user reported seeing a car on fire. Police have advised motorists to expect lengthy delays around the area.

In Sharjah, the usual slow-moving commute towards Dubai has been further hampered by accidents. On E11, Al Ittihad Road towards Mamzar Interchange, and on E611 near Sharjah National Park, crashes are causing lengthy delays.

In the capital, reports have come in about several accidents, and congestion is causing delays on several routes.

The Abu Dhabi-bound lanes coming off Sheikh Zayed Bridge are heavily congested and almost at a stand-still.

Two earlier crashes - on Khaleej Al Arabi Street after Mussafah Bridge, and Sheikh Zayed Street after Saada Bridge outbound - have been cleared but delays remain.
