Two accidents were reported in Dubai this morning, on Hessa Street and Al Qudra Street, bringing traffic to a crawl.

Tailbacks were reported on arterial roads as school buses and parents dropped children off on the second day of the new term.

Traffic built up on Oud Metha and Umm Hurair streets, Sheikh Zayed Road through to Umm Suqeim, International City, Al Ittihad Street and Al Tawun, Maliha Kalba Road and near the National Paints Factory in Sharjah.

Movement was slow in Abu Dhabi after the Sweihan Bridge, on the E20 International Airport road after Khalifa City, Al Bateen Street, Mussaffah Bridge and on Al Falah Street.

Dubai Police asked commuters to be careful on the roads and tweeted: “Dear motorists: Always check your blind spot before changing lanes."
