The UAE said on Wednesday that residents with expired permits were exempt from medical exams and would receive an automatic renewal because of the outbreak of coronavirus.

“Work permits and residence visas will be issued and renewed automatically for labourers employed by companies and support staff such as domestic workers,” the state news agency Wam reported.

Applicants must make a payment through an authorised channel for the renewal.

Employers must inform the relevant health authorities if any of their workers are suspected of carrying the virus.

All employees must follow regulations and precautionary measures set out by the health authorities to ensure the safety of their workers and the community, Wam reported.
