UAE squad busts drug gang after police chase

Police chased down the three suspects and found them to be in possession of 55kg of hashish and other drugs.

Joint efforts by police in Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah foiled a drug smuggling attempt by three men.

Police chased down the suspects, Asians JJM and AAS, and an Emirati, MAH, from RAK to Ajman. They were found with 55 kilograms of hashish, 2kg of opium, 32,600 narcotic oils and 316.8 grams of heroin.

Maj Gen Abdul Jalil Al Asmawi, director of the general anti-narcotics department at Dubai Police said the force put the men under surveillance after a tip off.

Police followed the men into a rugged mountainous area in RAK where they stopped to pick up four bags from a cement factory before continuing on.

Police gave chase but the driver did not stop. Maj Gen Al Asmawi said that the suspects threw the bags out the car window when they realised they could not escape. POlice later collected the bags.

They were apprehended in Al Manama area in Ajman, with a large quantity of drugs in their possession.

The suspects have been referred to public prosecution.
