Close to Dh101 million has been spent to build schools for children in Pakistan, on UAE President's orders
UAE-sponsored schools open in Pakistan
ABU DHABI // More than Dh100 million has been spent to open 40 new schools and colleges for children in flood-ravaged areas of Pakistan.
The UAE Project to Assist Pakistan has handed over the schools to local authorities, and some 21,000 children have already started classes in the facilities, according to state news agency WAM. Children also received gifts at each of the openings, including backpacks.
The project to construct schools in Pakistan was carried out under the directives of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Another two schools will be built in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and South Waziristan, at a costs if Dh1.8m each.
