The Ministry of Education has announced term dates for the next academic year for public and private schools.

Schoolchildren will head back to classrooms on September 2, with teachers returning to school on August 26.

The last day of the school year will be July 4, 2019, for pupils, with teachers packing their bags for the summer holidays a week later on July 11.

Other notable dates for parents and pupils to mark down in their diaries include December 16, the start of the winter holiday, and March 31, 2019, which is when the spring holiday gets under way.

The number of school days for the 2018-2019 year, including exam dates, is 182.

The dates apply to public and private schools that follow the Ministry of Education curriculum.
