The Red Crescent Authority has sent a team to Madagascar to help victims of the African island nation’s recent cyclone which destroyed homes and crops last month.
Cyclone Haruna passed over Madagascar on February 22, causing extreme winds with speeds of up to 200kph, which was followed by severe flooding.
The team from the charity organisation arrived yesterday, said state news agency, Wam.
A convoy sent from the capital city of Antananarivo will carry food and medicines to the population in the areas affected by the tropical storm.
The relief materials will be procured from local markets, according to the head of the team, Suhail Rashid Al Qadhi.
