Public sector employees will enjoy an extended weekend for Eid Al Adha, it was announced on Wednesday.

Workers in the public sector will get two working days off for the religious holiday from Thursday, August 31 and return to work on Monday, September 4.

This announcement came in a circular issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation Government.

The MOHRE congratulated President Sheikh Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, on the occasion.

The holiday dates for the private sector will follow.

On Tuesday, Saudi Supreme Court said in a statement that Wednesday would be the first day of the Islamic month of Dhu Al Hijjah, making September 1 the first day of Eid Al Adha.
