Etisalat customers may have experienced some difficulties with their networks last night after Etisalat suffered a break in one of its fibre optic cables in the Mediterranean off the Egyptian coast near Alexandria (see accompanying story) , the state news agency Wam said.
"Dear Customer, you may experience a drop in internet browsing speeds due to a cable cut. We are working to fix this at the earliest," the company tweeted yesterday evening.
Etisalat said it had a contingency plan in place and would miminise the impact on customers, said Wam.
