ABU DHABI // A gang of three juveniles who stole personal belongings left behind in cars at night has been arrested, police said today.
Brig Maktoum Al Sharifi, head of Abu Dhabi Capital Police, took action on reports received by Al Khalidiyah police station that windows of nine cars in different areas of the capital had been broken, and that personal items in the vehicles had been stolen, police said.
Police nabbed the gang within 48 hours after receiving the report, Brig Al Sharifi said, adding that most of the stolen items were cash, mobile phones and laptops.
Police warned residents against leaving valuables inside their vehicles, and leaving their engines running while they are away.
Col Ali Ibrahim Al Tenaiji, director of Al Khalidiya Police Station in Abu Dhabi, said that upon receiving the reports, police set up a task force led by Maj Yousuf Abdullah Al Ahmed. The culprits were referred to courts after confessing to their crimes, police said.
