The UAE banned the import of all birds and their by-products from Belgium after the registration of a highly pathogenic avian influenza.
The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment banned the products after a notification from the World Organisation of Animal Health.
The ban prohibits the import of poultry, table eggs and products that have not thermally treated.
According to a media statement released by MoCCaE, the ban came into place on June 20 this year.
Thermally-treated poultry products including meat and processed egg products are not included in the ban.
The ministry said it is keen on raising the level of food safety and ensuring the provision of safe food to consumers.
