Two killed and three injured in car accident in RAK
Two people were killed and three others severely injured after their vehicle veered off Ras Al Khaimah bridge on Tuesday
RAK Police were called to the bridge the early hours of the morning. An ambulance was also sent.
Initial investigations showed that the driver of the vehicle was speeding over the bridge when he lost control near the roundabout in the direction of Al Nakheel, said Lt Col Waleed Kanfesh, chief of Al Mamourah Police Station.
“The car overturned several times and landed near the civil defence department in the area," he said.
Two people died on impact while three others, all of Asian origin, were severely injured and taken to hospital, Lt Col Kanfesh said.
The bodies were also taken to the hospital to be handed over to their families. The case has been referred to prosecutors for legal action.
Lt Col Kanfesh stressed the importance of adhering to traffic rules and speed limits in order to avoid similar accidents.
