Two people died and another was injured when the car they were travelling in ploughed into a crane on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old Asian driver and 22-year-old Asian woman passenger died while a 32-year-old man escaped with minor injuries. Police did not release their nationalities.

The accident happened in Ras Al Khaimah at 7.30am, RAK Police said.

“The driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a crane. The driver and woman sustained severe injuries. Another man, of the same nationality, was injured and transferred to hospital for treatment,” said Brigadier Mohammed Al Humaidi, head of the central operations room.

He urged motorists to drive with care and be cautious and reduce speed when around construction sites.
