Two brothers caught with heroin in their stomachs at Dubai airport

One of them had swallowed 61 capsules

Two Asian drug smugglers were caught at Dubai International Airport with a total of more than 1.3 kilograms of heroin in their stomachs.

Brig Eid Hareb, head of the anti-narcotics department at Dubai Police, said that one of the brothers had 61 capsules of heroin in his stomach while the other had 47, with a total of 1.328 kilograms. They were caught last month.

“They were both arrested based on information that we received earlier confirming their intentions of smuggling drugs to the country, making use of the smooth procedures granted to visitors,” Brig Hareb said.

“During the initial interrogation they both confessed that they had swallowed a large number of heroin capsules. Further investigations showed that it was not the first time they had been involved in such a criminal act."

They were taken to Rashid Hospital in Dubai and stayed under strict surveillance until the capsules were collected.

The case was then referred to legal authorities.
