Two blazes near Abu Dhabi Mall
Two fires erupted in mid-rise residential buildings this morning in the Tourist Club Area. At least one person has been injured in the fire, who was taken to hospital in an ambulance. The fires, about a block apart from each other near Abu Dhabi Mall, drew a large emergency response including technical and quick intervention units, pumpers and at least one ambulance. The fire in a 12-storey building sent flames gushing out of windows on the sixth floor. A firefighter in a cherrypicker bucket sprayed the flames as residents gathered on the roof amid clouds of smoke. The blaze was extinguished about 1pm but firefighters could be seen inside on the eighth floor working on hot spots. The other blaze, in a 15-storey building, was extinguished at about noon and people could be seen returning to the building. It was unclear whether the two fires were related. firstname.lastname@example.org
