DUBAI // Mohammed Salem and Ahmad Salah have been appointed ambassadors of Dubai's public transport system. The men, who are in their early twenties, were selected to join the Youth for Public Transport Foundation (Y4PT) which was launched on Tuesday at the 60th International Association of Public Transport (UITP) in Geneva, Switzerland.

The foundation will include 40 young individuals from 19 countries, who will work to promote the culture of using of public transport.

The Roads and Transport Authority was a founding member of the foundation, and will host all the new ambassadors at a conference in Dubai next year.

As their first task, Salem and Salah will be putting together a list of ideas they feel can improve public transport services in Dubai which they will present to Mattar Al Tayer, chairman of the RTA.

A website tracking the pair's activities and social media channels will also be set up to help them interact with the public.
