UAE traffic: Slow down in foggy weather, Dubai Police warn
motorists can expect delays southbound on the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311) near the Jumeirah Village Triangle and Dubai Investments Park
Dubai Police have urged motorists to be more cautious while driving in fog as we approach one of the most dangerous times of the year.
Slow down, keep space between vehicles and do not use hazard lights and head beams off when driving in the fog, police told drivers in Arabic and English videos released on Twitter this morning.
The National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology says foggy mornings are expected to continue over the weekend.
Last January, 23 people were injured in four accidents involving 96 vehicles on one foggy morning on the Abu Dhabi-Al Ain road. In January 2015, dangerous driving in fog caused a pile-up involving dozens of cars on the Shahama-Mafraq highway heading out of Abu Dhabi. In January 2014, another foggy morning saw a 30-car pile-up between Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
This morning, motorists can expect delays southbound on the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311) near the Jumeirah Village Triangle and Dubai Investments Park.
For Sharjah commuters, there is congestion on the E311 heading into Dubai near the S116 intersection in the Muwailih commercial district towards the Dubai International Airport in Al Rashidiya.
On the Sharjah-Dubai border, there is four kilometres of heavy traffic on the E11 from Al Nahda to the Al Qiyada Metro Station in Hor Al Anz East.
Abu Dhabi-bound on the E11 to the Saih Al Sidirah Road (E14) and on the E20 near Sweihan should expect some traffic and drive slowly.
No delays were reported in Abu Dhabi city.
