Dubai police reported heavy congestion in and out of the city this morning including the Airport Tunnel and the E611 up to Nad Al Sheba.
They advised motorists to avoid the area and take alternative routes.
In Abu Dhabi, an accident on Sheikh Zayed Street before the in-bound Saada Bridge was caused early delays.
Abu Dhabi police also reminded motorists that two lanes of the Maqta Bridge will be closed from 11pm tonight for maintenance and will stay shut for the weekend until 5pm on Saturday.
