Two pedestrians were badly hurt after being struck by vehicles in separate incidents in Dubai.

A man is being treated in hospital for serious injuries after being hit by a minibus as he attempted to cross a road in Jebel Ali's industrial area at about 6pm on Saturday.

“The accident happened when a minibus driver entered an internal road in the area then ran over a pedestrian who was trying to cross the road,” a traffic police source said.

“Patrols from Jebel Ali police station were dispatched to the scene while an ambulance arrived shortly and rushed the man, who is suffering from serious injuries, to hospital.”

Another man was injured after being hit by a car while crossing Ras Al Khor Road at about 1.30pm on Sunday.

“The Syrian man, who suffered from serious injuries due to the accident, had crossed three lanes before he was run over on the fourth lane by a Nissan vehicle,” the source said.
