RAS AL KHAIMAH // Two men died last night after their car crashed when they swerved to avoid a donkey on the Showka Road in the south of the emirate. The driver moved to avoid the animal but the car flipped several times, landing on its side. One man died immediately while the second died on the way to the hospital inside the ambulance. Ras al Khaimah Police said the donkey was not harmed in the incident and that it left the scene. Col Hassan al Jeeda asked the public to supervise their animals. He urged drivers to obey speed limits and for road users to exercise caution. Last year, six accidents were caused by animals in Ras al Khaimah, which is the only emirate to have reported serious accidents caused by livestock, according to the Traffic and Licensing Department. Police said there has been a significant decline in the number of accidents caused by livestock in the last six years due to new regulations by the municipality.
Meanwhile, a pedestrian was killed after being hit by a speeding vehicle this morning near Sha'am.
