Two Emiratis killed in early-morning Dubai crash

The 29-year-old Emirati driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries but two passengers were killed at the scene.

DUBAI // Two Emiratis died in a two-vehicle crash early Sunday morning.

A Toyota FJ Cruiser drove into the left rear side of a large lorry on the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road at about 1am, near Seih Shoaib, while driving towards Abu Dhabi.

Dubai Police said the Toyota was speeding when it hit the back of the vehicle and overturned twice, before landing on the side of the highway.

The 29-year-old Emirati driver only suffered minor injuries while two Emirati passengers died on impact.

The driver was immediately taken to Rashid Hospital. Police said he would soon be taken to a police station to open a court case.
