Three people died after being crushed in an accident involving two trucks in Umm Al Quwain.

The trucks were being driven on Emirates Road in the direction of Sharjah when the collision occurred. It is unclear what caused the accident but images appear to show one truck having crashed into the back of the other causing the cab of the truck to collapse and trap the three men within it.

Col Hassan Bin Saram, director of the Department of Civil Defense in Umm Al Quwain, said they received a report saying three people had been trapped in their vehicles following the crash.
"Civil defense teams rushed to the scene with the equipment to help free the trapped men but the three Asian nationals died in the accident," he said.

Their bodies were taken to Sheikh Khalifa General Hospital to be released to their families.

Col Hassan called on motorists to be more careful on the road especially on highways, adhere to the traffic rules, buckle up and leave sufficient distance between vehicles.
